QRCS, JNRCS sign an agreement to provide prosthetic limbs for Syrian refugees in Jordan
The Secretary-General Ambassador of Qatar Red Crescent Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi signed a cooperation agreement with Vice-President of Jordan Red Crescent, Omar Abu-koura, to launch a prosthetic limbs project for the benefit of Syrian refugees with disabilities in Jordan.
This came in a statement issued by the Qatari Al-Hilal newspaper, in which it confirmed that The project’s action plan involves providing upper and lower limb prosthetics, mobility and accessibility aids, psychological support, and physiotherapy for the beneficiaries.
During the meeting, Assistant Secretary-General at Jordan National Red Crescent Mamdouh Al-Hadid revealed a new joint surgical program that involved 420 surgeries for Syrian refugees and the vulnerable local community.
Qatar occupies the first place in the humanitarian support provided to Syrian refugees, numbering 670,000, according to the latest statistics of the UNHCR, while the Jordanian authorities complain that about half of the refugees are not registered with official organizations.
