A phone call between the Ukrainian president and his American counterpart.. and Britain presents an international plan to thwart the Russian invasion
Ukraine’s president said on Sunday that he and US President John Biden discussed financial support and sanctions against Russia.
Zelensky twitted: “As part of the constant dialogue, I had another conversation with US president. The agenda included the issues of security, financial support for Ukraine and the continuation of sanctions against Russia.”
In a statement, the White House said that Biden welcomed the decisions of Visa and MasterCard companies to freeze out Moscow by suspending operations, noting that his country is providing more assistance and working with Congress to ensure additional funding.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on world leaders on Saturday to join an international action plan to thwart the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Johnson said :”Putin must fail and must be seen to fail in this act of aggression.”
Johnson said in a statement: “It is not enough to express our support for the rules-based international order – we must defend it against a sustained attempt to rewrite the rules by military force.”
Johnson set out a six-point plan in response to the Russian invasion, which included establishing an international coalition for Ukraine, supporting its self-defense, increasing economic pressure on Russia, de-escalation with the full participation of the Ukrainian government, enhancing security in the Euro-Atlantic region, and ending the creeping normalization of Russian activities in Ukraine.
