Turkish Foreign Ministry: We have started a project to repatriate the Syrian refugees in partnership with 4 countries
Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said: his country has started a project to repatriate all the Syrian refugees to their country in partnership with 4 other countries, stressing that it is necessary to guarantee their safety before returning them.
In a televised interview with the local channel CNN Turk, Mevlut Cavusoglu stressed yesterday that the return of Syrian refuges to their country should be in accordance with human rights and international law. We should view the refugees file from a political, humanitarian, and social perspective.
He stressed the importance to guarantee the safety of Syrian refugees before returning them. He also added that we must guarantee the basic needs for those refugees after returning them to their homeland such as, accommodation, children’s education, hospitals, projects that secure job opportunities.
He pointed out to the Assad’s calls for refugees to return to the areas under his control. He continued that the Assad regime doesn’t adequately secure the basic needs for civilians in his controlled-areas. The reports of international observers confirm that there are real problems there.
Cavusoglu noted that all Syrians see the areas that we liberated from terrorism as safe, but not all of them are from those areas, and we will start a project to return them to their areas in partnership with 4 countries during the coming period.
