Biden: We will not provide Ukraine with rocket systems that can reach Russia
US President Joe Biden said: “We will not provide Ukraine with rocket systems that can reach Russia.”
This came in response to what “The Wall Street Journal” announced last Friday that the Biden administration will send to Ukraine advanced long-range rocket systems.
US officials quoted by the Wall Street Journal said “it is expected that the Biden administration will announce the sending of long-range rocket systems to Ukraine next week.”
The newspaper added: “Among the weapons expected to be provided by the United States to Kiev is the Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, or MLRS, that can fire a barrage of rockets hundreds of miles away.”
Earlier, the Ukrainian General Staff announced, on Saturday, that 30,000 Russian militants had been killed since the Russian invasion began in late February, coinciding with Moscow’s announcement of its control of the city of Krasny.
The General Staff added that the Ukrainian forces had destroyed 207 airplanes, 174 helicopters, 1,330 tanks, 3,258 armored vehicles, 628 artillery, 203 launch rocket systems and 93 air defense systems.
It is noteworthy that since February 24, Russia has launched a military attack on its neighbor Ukraine, which has left a humanitarian crisis, damaged the food and energy sectors worldwide, and prompted many capitals to impose economic, financial and diplomatic sanctions on Moscow.
