An Israeli newspaper reveals the target that Israel targeted in its latest airstrike on the city of Tartus
Hebrew media outlets revealed the target that Israel targeted in the latest airstrikes on the city of Tartus.
According to “The Times of Israel” newspaper, the Israeli airstrike targeted Iranian militias’ plans to plant air defense systems, considering this step as a “game changing” in Syria.
The newspaper quoted Israeli “Channel 12 news” as saying: the airstrike, which took place on Saturday morning in al-Hamidiyah town in the countryside of Tartus, came after Iran transported weapons through Tartus port after Iranian ships docked at the port last week.
For its part, the Assad regime said that four crude oil tankers arrived through the credit line with Iran to a port in Tartus last June.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli airstrike coincided with a visit by the Iranian Foreign Minister to Damascus, at the head of an official delegation, in which he met with the regime’s Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad and Bashar al-Assad.
