Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan calls on US to withdraw its forces from the areas east of the Euphrates River, north Syria
The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on yesterday the United States of America to withdraw its forces from eastern area of the Euphrates River, north Syria.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters on the plane that America has to leave east of the Euphrates now while he was returning from the Iranian capital, Tehran, to Turkey, after participating in the tripartite summit that brought him together with his counterparts Vladimir Putin and Ibrahim Raisi.
He said, “The file of the new military operation against the Syrian Democratic Forces will remain on our agenda until our concerns on the southern border with Syria are dispelled.”
He added, the Syrian Democratic Forces and other terrorist organizations think that they can deceive the Turkish army by waving Assad regime’s flag in the areas they control.
Erdogan called on both Russia and Iran to stand by Ankara to “fight terrorism”, in order to establish a 30-kilometre-deep security zone on the border with Syria, saying: “They have to provide us with the necessary support.”
It is noteworthy that Turkey had announced earlier its intention to launch a new military operation targeting the Syrian Democratic Forces-controlled areas, in the city of Manbij and Tal Rifaat in Aleppo countryside.
