The Syrian file is on the agenda of the upcoming Putin and Erdogan meeting in Sochi
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold a one-day official visit with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the Russian city of Sochi on August 5, according to Turkish media.
The Syrian file is on the table for the upcoming meeting between the two presidents
Sputnik news agency quoted Russiann ambassador to Turkey, Alexei Yerkhov, as saying: “The situation in Syria will be on the agenda for the upcoming meeting between Putin and Erdogan, in addition to other files such as the Ukrainian file.”
The Russian official: “The situation in Syria has been of interest to both sides”
The Russian ambassador added that the recent situation in Syria is receiving attention from both sides (Russia and Turkey). He pointed out that at the same time the talks concerned with regional issues are at the highest level between Russian and Turkish leaders. The Syrian file is one of the issue, which is considered an “international issue”.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish and Russian presidents attended the tripartite summit on July 19 in the Iranian capital, Tehran. The final statement of the Tehran summit included the commitment of the participating countries to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.
