Kremlin comments on news of a likely phone call between the Turkish President and Bashar al-Assad
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed today, Tuesday, that the answer regarding the news of a phone call between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad, at the suggestion of Russian President Vladimir Putin, that Moscow cannot comment on.
Peskov made it clear that Syrian affairs were discussed by the leaders of Russia and Turkey, the rest are bilateral issues of the Assad regime and Ankara, according to RIA Novosti Agency.
The “Turkey” newspaper close to government departments, confirmed earlier today that there was news of a possible phone conversation between Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad, pointing out that Putin invited the parties to meet for discussions.
The newspaper pointed out that Ankara offered to carry out joint action with Russia, Iran, and the Assad regime against the “piracy state” of the Kurdistan Workers Organization in the east of the country.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last Saturday that the Turkish intelligence service is in contact with the Assad regime’s intelligence regarding “terrorist organizations.”
