Iran welcomes Turkey’s recent statements on Syria
Iranian Foreign Ministry welcomed yesterday the recent Turkish statement calling for restoring relations with the Assad regime and described them as “encouraging.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, said in a press conference: “Iran hopes to witness the restoration of relations between Ankara and the Assad regime in a way that serves their interest and stability in the region, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
Kanaani stated that his country expect Ankara to correct its policy towards Assad regime and play a positive role in the region.
The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoghan affirmed a few days ago that Turkey should take “advance” steps in its relation with Assad regime. He also confirmed that Turkey’s war in Syria is against terrorism and not to win over the regime.
