International organizations call for establishing an independent entity to track the forcibly missing Syrians
Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch called on the United Nations member countries to establish an independent international entity to track and identify the missing persons in Syria.
The two organizations stressed the need for establishing the international entity, which will help to identify the forcibly disappeared and missing persons at the hands of the Assad regime forces, since the start of the Syrian revolution in 2011, until today.
Russia and Iran called for pressing the Assad regime to reveal the fate of the missing in its prisons.
Amnesty International organization posted on its website: “UN Member states should do everything in their power to ensure that a new international body is established to track the missing persons in Syria.”
The organization added that the countries that have influence in Syria, including Russia and Iran, should press the Assad regime to reveal the numbers and names of the missing in Syrian detention centers and inform their families about them.
On the other hand, the International Organization for Migration announced recently in a report on its website that more than 50,000 people, including Syrians, have died all over the world during migration journeys since the Missing Migrants Project of the International Organization for Migration began documenting deaths in 2014.
