Kalin: our meetings with The-Assad regime are for the Syrian people’s interest
Turkish presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin on Saturday said that Turkey has held meetings with The-Assad regime for the interest of Turkey and the interest, rights and safety of the Syrian people.
This was revealed in a press statement yesterday, after his participation in an event in Sabah-Addin Zaim in Istanbul.
During his participation, he referred to the meeting which gathered the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar,The head of Turkish Intelligence Hakan Vidan with their Syrian and Russian counterparts in Moscow on 28 last December, noting that it was Turkey’s” first call ” with the Assad regime after 11 years.
He stated that the meeting had taken place in a “positive mood” and that the serious steps to be taken would determine how the events go on.
He noted that Turkey’s main agenda on this path is to ensure border security and take concrete steps against the SDF, return refugees and displaced persons to their homes with the necessary guarantees, and continue the work of the Constitutional Committee within the framework of the Astana route, expressing the hope that this path will achieve good results at all levels.
In previous remarks on Tuesday, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Qalan said that his country had never let the Syrian opposition down so far, and there were positive messages and indicators at last December’s meeting, and that this should be transformed into decisions and commitments.
