Washington: We do not support normalization with the Assad regime and encourage the delivery of aid to Syrians
Washington encourages all countries to deliver humanitarian assistance to those affected by Syria’s earthquake, State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
In a press conference yesterday, Price added that the US administration urges all countries of the world to do so, but does not support normalizing relations with the Assad regime.
The United States diplomat stressed that there was no entity that had done more than the Assad regime to kill and displace the Syrian people, and that everyone was aware of the humanitarian impasse that Syrians had been experiencing for years, particularly the current hardship.
According to Price, Washington appreciates the humanitarian needs of the Syrian people and is specifically aware of why Syrians are in such a grave impasse that exacerbated the earthquake.
Washington’s position on the Assad regime will remain unchanged.
He hoped that humanitarian assistance would reach Syria, regardless of whether it was in areas under the control of the Assad regime or in northwestern Syria.
