Washington imposes sanctions on the perpetrator of al-Tadamon massacre, Amjad Youssef
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday that the US administration has imposed sanctions on the military intelligence officer of the Assad regime, Amjad Youssef.
Blinken emphasized in his statements that Washington imposed sanctions on the perpetrator of the famous al-Tadamon massacre, Amjad Youssef, because he committed horrible humanitarian crimes against Syrian civilians over the past years, according to “Aljazeera” News Agency.
A group of lawmakers in the US Congress in the middle of last year has called on the president Joe Biden to impose sanctions on members of the Assad regime forces who participate in al-Tadamon massacre.
The demand came during a symposium called by “Friends of a Free, Democratic, and Stable Syria” and “Citizens for a Secure and Safe America” groups in which a video was shown demonstrating the killing of 228 Syrian civilians, including seven women and 12 children, on April 16, 2013 in al-Tadamon neighborhood in the capital Damascus.
Congressman Brendan Boyle said “I feel nauseous”, adding that “it is very difficult to watch,” according to Arab News.
Boyle accused the Assad regime of committing genocide against the Syrian people, causing 12 million people to displace inside and outside Syria.
A video posted by the British newspaper “The Guardian” revealed a massacre committed by the Assad regime forces in al-Tadamon neighborhood, south of Damascus, on April 16, 2013, which led to the killing and burning of 41 civilians and burring them in a mass grave.
