Syria Civil Defense: The military escalation of Assad regime and Russia threatens the lives of 4 million civilians
The Syrian Civil Defense (White Helmets) said that increasing the violence by Assad regime and Russia in northwest Syria poses a threat to over 4 million civilians.
The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed in a statement that there is no guarantee to protect civilians except through implementing the UN Resolution 2254, which seems to dwindle due to the international negligence of Assad regime and Russia’s crimes against civilians in northwest Syria.
The Civil Defense pointed to the increasing violence by Assad regime and Russia in northern Syria during the recent month. The attacks focused on the cities and towns of Idleb eastern, western, and southern countryside.
The Civil Defense documented more than 70 attacks from the beginning of the escalation until Saturday, June 24, which left 11 dead and about 30 others injured, including women and children.
The Civil Defense added that its teams have responded to more than 200 attacks since the beginning of this year. The attacks carried out by Assad regime and Russia in northwest Syria, including 241 artillery and missile attacks and 6 Russian airstrikes, resulting in the death of 24 people including children, in addition to more than 90 were injured including 32 children and 20 women.
The Civil Defense stated that the recent escalation of the Assad regime forces and Russia raises concerns among civilians, in light of the absence of international positions to end the killing and displacement and the transition to a political solution in line with Resolution 2254, which calling for a cease-fire, returning the displaced to their homes, and bringing the perpetrators of war crimes against the Syrian people to justice.
Russian warplanes on June 25 launched airstrikes on a vegetable market in Jisr al-Shughour city in Idleb western countryside, killing 11 civilians and injuring about 30 others.
