Gallant: We will pursue the Hezbollah militia wherever it is in Syria and Lebanon and elsewhere
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Friday, 29 March 2024, that Israel will pursue the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in Syria, Lebanon, and elsewhere.
Gallant’s previous statement came on a post on “X” platform, hours after the Israeli army announced the killing of the deputy commander of the Hezbollah militia’s rocket and missile unit, Ali Abul Hassan Naim, in a raid on southern Lebanon.
Gallant added that Israel will change its strategy from defending to pursuing Hezbollah, and targeting any place where the “Hezbollah” militia is present.
Gallant made it clear that the military campaign would pursue the “Hezbollah” militia wherever it was in Beirut, Baalbek, Sidon, and Nabatieh, and this also applies to much more distant places such as Damascus and what is happening in Homs and Hama.
According to the SANA news agency, Israel launched a series of air strikes early on Friday, 29 March 2024, targeting areas in the eastern Aleppo countryside, which led to the killing of 38 people, including civilians and military personnel.
Meanwhile, the “Hezbollah” militia announced that the Israeli shelling that targeted Assad forces’ positions in Aleppo, northern Syria, caused the death of 5 members, namely the leader Ahmed Jawad Shehimi, Mustafa Ali Nassif, Ali Muhammad Al-Haf, Ibrahim Anis Al-Zein, and Mustafa Ahmed Makki.
Gallant previously informed his counterpart, Lloyd Austin, and senior advisor to US President Joe Biden, Amos Hochstein, during his visit to Washington last week, about the Israeli plans, according to US network CNN.
Gallant considered that Hezbollah and its leader Hassan Nasrallah are responsible for the damage and losses in Lebanon.
