Ahmed al-Sharaa: Syria in its new phase requires thoughtful plans to address it
The commander of the military operations department, Ahmed al-Sharaa, said in a press conference: “Syria in its new phase faces a real tragedy requiring thoughtful plans to address it.”
Al-Sharaa added: “Damascus faces tragic conditions when it was liberated as the destruction spread to all aspects, which reflects the suffering of Syrians during years of conflict.”
Al-Sharaa continued: “The previous Assad regime issued instructions to the governor of the central bank to print banknotes without any financial cover which worsened the economic crisis and increased the suffering of the Syrian citizens.”
Al-Sharaa stressed “the need to collect and analyze data meticulously before taking practical steps to deal with such urgent issues and transfer the mentality from the revolutionary work to country reconstruction.”
Al-Sharaa pointed out: “The country needs to establish a state based on law and institutions to ensure sustainable stability, and the future of Syria depends on establishing the foundations of governance and justice.”
Al-Sharaa called for “serious work to rebuild the Syrian state according to modern foundations that guarantee rights and justice for all Syrians, while warning against falling into the mistakes of the past that hindered the process of achieving stability.”
Regarding the issue of Captagon production, Al-Sharaa confirmed: “The new administration will put an end to this issue, after the previous regime turned the country into a Captagon factory,” according to international reports.
Regarding the Israeli escalation, Al-Sharaa stated, “The Israeli pretexts have become weak and no longer justify their recent violations by crossing the lines of engagement in Syria.”
In this context, Al-Sharaa called on the international community to intervene urgently and assume its responsibilities regarding this escalation, stressing “the importance of controlling the situation in the region and respecting Syrian sovereignty.”
Al-Sharaa pointed out: “The efforts made to overthrow the previous regime were not individual, but rather were a joint product of all Syrians.”
Al-Sharaa concluded his speech by emphasizing that the next stage is the stage of construction and stability, where efforts focus on reconstruction and improving the living conditions of Syrians. He added: “Our priority now is to meet the people’s basic needs.”
