The Norwegian envoy to Syria: Russia is obstructing the access of humanitarian aid to the Syrians
The Norwegian envoy to Syria, Hilda Haralstad, stressed the need for European and international pressure to activate the political process in Syria.
The head of the Syrian negotiating committee, Anas Al-Abdah, published on his official account on Twitter that the Norwegian envoy emphasized during his meeting with her the need for effective European and international pressure to push the political process in Syria, and to prevent Russia from directly obstructing the arrival of aid to Syrians in northern Syria.
Haralstad added that Russia is turning the aid file into a political blackmail card, and this is what the Norwegian envoy described as unacceptable and contrary to all humanitarian norms.
Russia and China had suspended a draft resolution extending the international mandate of the United Nations to bring aid into Syria without the permission of the Assad regime through two border ports with Turkey, to be agreed later on extending the entry of humanitarian aid for a year through “Bab al-Hawa” crossing only.
