Jeffrey: America and Turkey are partners and work together in Syria
The former US envoy to Syria, James Jeffrey, revealed, during an interview with the Turkish “Anatolia” agency, about the future of relations between Washington and Ankara in Syria.
Jeffrey said that America and Turkey are very close partners and work in coordination with each other in Syria.
On the relationship of US President Joe Biden with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Jeffrey stressed that Biden’s priorities are to fight the Corona virus and compete with China.
Jeffrey added that the United States is working in coordination with Turkey on the Idlib and Tripoli files, indicating that Washington does not want to allocate additional military resources and capacities to the Middle East region.
Jeffrey said that relations between Ankara and Washington are currently going through a period of calm despite the differences, noting that the relationship may improve in the future.
It is noteworthy that relations between Turkey and America witnessed an increase in tension after Biden assumed power at the beginning of this year.
