Samir Geagea: Whoever participates in the Assad regime’s elections must leave Lebanon immediately
The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, said yesterday, Wednesday, addressing the Syrian community in Lebanon, “Whoever participates in the upcoming presidential elections must leave Lebanon immediately towards the areas of the Assad regime.”
This came in a series of tweets he had on Twitter, in which he confirmed that “tens of thousands of displaced Syrians in Lebanon are preparing to participate (Thursday) in the tragedy farce called Syrian presidential elections at the headquarters of the Syrian embassy in Hazmieh.”
Geagea added: “You must obtain complete lists of the names of those who will vote for Assad and ask them to leave Lebanon immediately and join the areas it controls in Syria as long as they will vote for the Assad regime, which they consider does not constitute a threat to them.”
He forcibly left his country as a result of the security risks posed by his dictatorial regime.
And he asked the President of the Republic of Lebanon and the head of the caretaker government to give the necessary instructions to the Ministries of Interior and Defense and the concerned departments to prevent the Syrian voters residing in Lebanon from participating in the Assad regime elections.
About one million Syrian refugees live in Lebanon, who left their homes in different regions of Syria after the outbreak of the revolution in 2011, as they refuse to return for fear of security prosecutions for the Assad regime.
And the Foreign Ministry had announced to the Assad regime that many embassies around the world had finished preparing for the presidential elections, which some countries described as a “farce and unjust.”
