The Russian Foreign Ministry said, on Tuesday, that Turkish and Russian Foreign Ministry officials discussed the Syrian and Libyan issues in the capital, Moscow.
This came in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, in which it confirmed that a high-level Turkish delegation headed by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Unal headed to Moscow to discuss joint developments.
The statement confirmed that the talks were held under the chairmanship of the Turkish Foreign Minister and the special envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and African countries, Mikhail Bogdanov.
The statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated, “The talks stressed the commitment to the sovereignty, unity and integrity of the Syrian territories,” noting that “the implementation of the agreements concluded between Turkey and Russia regarding stopping military actions in Syria and combating international terrorists was welcomed.”
He continued, “The sixteenth international meeting was prepared within the framework of the Astana process on the Syrian issue, regarding the exchange of views on the ceasefire in the region.
On March 5, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that they had reached a ceasefire agreement in Idlib, which took effect the next day.
