The European Union and America call for ensuring humanitarian access to Syria
The United States of America and the European Union called on the United Nations Security Council to ensure humanitarian access to Syria in light of the continuing spread of the Corona virus.
This came in a joint statement, following their joint summit in Brussels, which focused on highlighting the increasing humanitarian needs throughout Syria, in addition to the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The statement called on the United Nations Security Council to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches all those in need in Syria through possible routes, “including through cross-border operations and across conflict lines.”
Previously, National Security Adviser at the White House, Jake Sullivan, announced that US President Joe Biden would discuss issues related to Syria during the planned summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and stressed that Syria would be on the agenda.
