Biden: Iran will never get a nuclear weapon during my tenure
US President Joe Biden said in a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Reuven Rivlin, on Monday, that “Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon during my tenure.”
Biden made it clear that his commitment to Israel is solid and that he looks forward to meeting new Prime Minister Naftali Bennett soon.
Biden also confirmed his support for Israeli agreements to normalize relations with Arab countries, adding that Israel was also making progress toward Africa.
The meeting took place just weeks after Bennett became Israel’s new prime minister, succeeding Benjamin Netanyahu. US officials are working to arrange a meeting between Biden and Bennett in the coming weeks.
The meeting came amid concern in Israel about the United States’ efforts to return to the Iranian nuclear agreement, fearing that the agreement would allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons in the end, making them vulnerable to the Iranian military threat.
