The Rome Conference on Syria: Emphasis on a political solution and the continuation of humanitarian aid
Yesterday evening, the Rome International Conference on Syria concluded by stressing the need to reach a political solution in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.
The foreign ministers of Western and Arab countries renewed the call for an immediate ceasefire and military operations in all Syrian territories, and for the continuation of the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid across the border.
The ministers considered that there are no alternative ways to bring aid into Syria except across the border, stressing the need to expand this special international mechanism.
They stressed the need to meet humanitarian needs, including the response to the Corona pandemic and life-saving assistance to all segments of the Syrian people.
The ministers stressed the importance of providing support to Syrian refugees, and the countries hosting them, so that they can voluntarily return to their country in line with the standards of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
