The Group of Twenty “unanimously agrees on the need to find solutions to crises around the world.”
The foreign ministers of the “Group of Twenty” countries unanimously agreed on the need to find solutions to crises around the world, such as the spread of the Corona virus, climate change and an end to internal wars in some countries.
This came during their meeting in the Italian city of Matera, where they discussed ways to revive the global economy, promote development in Africa, and revive the global economy.
US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, said: “Multilateral coordination will be essential to our collective ability to end this global health crisis,” noting that this applies to the “Group of Twenty” countries to enhance global health safety, to ensure monitoring, prevention and response to health crises.
Blinken added: “To put an end to the pandemic, we must get more vaccines, and the Kovacs initiative ensures a fair distribution of vaccines, and their access to the countries that need them most.”
For his part, Italian Foreign Minister and G20 President Luigi Di Maio said: “I support effective multilateralism under the auspices of the United Nations, and my country was one of the first countries to call for an international coalition to tackle the virus.
He pointed out that his country’s goal is “to combat the health, social and economic impact of the pandemic, to promote a sustainable, comprehensive and robust recovery, through pluralism.”
The meeting in Matera was attended by the foreign ministers of the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and India, as well as representatives of the United Nations and the European Union. Russia and South Korea sent their deputy foreign ministers, while the Chinese, Australian and Brazilian foreign ministers preferred to follow the discussions through video technology.
The “G20 Summit”, which includes the 20 largest countries in economic power, was held last year via video technology, organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (as the first Arab country) due to the outbreak of the Corona virus.
The summit’s agenda is considered the most dynamic in the history of the Group’s summits: climate issues, clean energy, trade tensions, reducing food waste, smart cities and artificial intelligence, sustainable jobs in light of technological progress, and youth and equality issues.
