The Pentagon: An attack on US forces in eastern Syria

An official at the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said that an indirect fire attack targeted US forces in eastern Syria, However no casualties have been reported so far.

Media outlets close to Iraqi armed factions said that a mortar attack targeted the American base in the Koniko field in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and that 4 shells landed directly on the base’s site.

This is the latest in a series of attacks on Americans in Iraq and Syria in recent days.
Iraqi armed factions allied with Iran vowed to respond after US attacks on the Iraqi-Syrian border killed 4 of their members last month.

Iran has denied supporting attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria, and condemned US air attacks on groups it backs in Syria and Iraq.
