Israeli strikes hit the positions of Assad regime and “Hezbollah” militia, west of Damascus
Early Wednesday morning, The Israeli military struck with surface-to-surface missiles sites and missile depots belonging to the regime forces and pro-Iranian militias, including the “Hezbollah” militia in the western Ghouta of Damascus.
The aerial attack concentrated on the positions of the Assad regime, the “Iranian Revolutionary Guards” and the “Hezbollah” militia in “Zakia” and “Al-Kiswah” towns in western Damascus, according to local sources.
According to the sources, the strikes targeted ammunition and missile depots in the outskirts of “Zakia” and “Al-Kiswah” towns, causing human casualties and material damage.
The sources stated, that the targeted sites were subjected to similar bombing in previous periods, and there are camps for “Hezbollah” militia and the “Iranian Revolutionary Guards” within the Assad regime’s military bases.
Local sources indicated that the aerial attack targeted the headquarters of the “137th Regiment” of the 7th Division of the Assad regime forces, which is an important and strategic location placed within a triangle that connects the governorates of Damascus countryside, Daraa and Quneitra in southern Syria.
The loyal official “SANA” agency claimed that the aerial attack caused only material damage, noting that the Israeli warplanes launched missile strikes on a military base in Damascus western countryside.
The agency quoted a military source in the Assad regime forces as saying: “The Israeli attack took place at around 12:58 am today, in the Zakia area of Western Ghouta.”
It is noteworthy that the Israeli warplanes launched strikes on Assad regime forces’ positions near Damascus on the thirtieth of last October, injuring two members and causing destruction in the targeted sites, according to “SANA” agency.
Sources told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the raids targeted a warehouse containing missiles that were ready to be transported to Hezbollah militia sites in Lebanon.
