Lavrov: The West is undermining Syrian refugees’ return
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed on Tuesday that the western countries are obstructing efforts to return Syrian refugees to their country.
Lavrov said during a joint press conference with the Vatican’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Paul Richard Gallagher, that “Western countries must stop undermining the return of Syrian refugees to their home countries.” According to Russia Today website.
Lavrov claimed that ”the security council resolution is related to the need for the West to stop sabotaging the requirement to create conditions for the return of refugees to Syria.”
He added ” The Western countries don’t want to return Syrian refugees to Syria, they only collects money to keep these refugees in the countries where they left in the early years of the conflict.”
Lavrov also accused the west of “unwilling to do anything to rebuild the basic infrastructure for the refugees’ return.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the Western countries to stop undermining the return of Syrian refugees to their home countries.
Lavrov also called the Western countries to end to the illegal unilateral sanctions imposing on the Assad regime, particularly in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Lavrov forgot his country’s role in Syria, which was a main reason for the flight of millions of Syrians to neighboring countries and the current asylum countries.
