Dozens of Assad regime forces killed and injured in an attack in Deir ez-Zor countryside
Yesterday, Saturday, Dozens of Assad regime forces were killed and injured in Deir ez-Zor, after an attack targeting them in Deir ez-Zor Badia, which the Islamic State(ISIS) was accused of being behind.
According to “Al-Khabour” local network, gunmen attacked military point for “Lions of the East Army” militia (Arabic: Usud al-Sharqiya) of the Assad regime forces in the Masrab Badia, west of Deir ez-Zor, killing 9 members of the Assad regime and injuring others.
It is noteworthy that ISIS no longer controls any Syrian region since it lost control of its last stronghold in Al-Baghouz town, east of Deir Ezzor Governorate in March 2019, but its cells launch hit-and-run attacks from time to time.
The Assad regime forces and the militias supporting them have tried to pursue ISIS members in the Badia during the past few months, to curb its successive attacks, and similarly did the Syrian Democratic Forces and the International Coalition forces, but all these attempts did not succeed in affecting the ISIS’s activity significantly.
