Biden describes Russia’s war in Ukraine a ‘genocide’
US president, Joe Biden, said yesterday: what is happening in Ukraine is a genocide, pointing out that the Russian army is committing crimes against civilians since the start of the war on 24 February.
It is noteworthy that Biden used the term ”genocide” for the first time in the Russian war on Ukraine. He previously called Putin a “war criminal”.
The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed that he has credible information that Russia may use chemical weapons in the besieged Mariupol city.
Blinken said: “We share that information with Ukraine and we’re in direct conversation with partners to try to determine what actually is happening, so this is a real concern.”
Earlier yesterday, Vladimir Putin said that his country’s war against Ukraine will continue until his country’s “noble” goals are fulfilled.
Putin described the Russian army’ deeds as ”courageous”. He pointed out that no one could isolate Russia, and that the ongoing war was inevitable to protect Russian national security.
