Israeli airstrikes target positions of the Assad regime in the vicinity of Damascus
Israeli warplanes launched on Monday, evening, airstrikes on positions of the Assad regime forces in the vicinity of the Syrian capital, Damascus, causing casualties and material damages.
“SANA” news agency quoted a military source as saying: “The Israeli warplanes carried out several barrages of missiles from over the Sea of Galilee, targeting positions in the vicinity of Damascus International Airport and the vicinity of Najha village in Damascus countryside.”
“SANA” added that the air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles over Damascus and shot down several of them, without announcing the targeted locations, pointing out that two members of the Assad forces were wounded as a result of the strikes.
Footages circulated on social media by Syrian activists showed that a fire broke out in one of the military positions on the side of Damascus International Airport, due to the Israeli strikes.
Israel has intensified its strikes and attacks on Assad regime’s positions and its affiliated militias since the beginning of 2022, as it launched a series of intense strikes, focusing on the Syrian airports in Damascus and Aleppo, with the aim of preventing the transfer of Iranian weapons supplies.
