Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy (IAO) prevents Russia and the Assad regime to take part in electing its president
Russian news agency “TASS” confirmed that “Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy (IAO) prevented delegations from Russia, Belarus and the Assad regime to participate in the General Assembly meeting to elect a new president.”
The Agency added that the assembly elected on Sunday the Polish Eugeniusz Czykwin as its president, to succeed the member of the Russian State Duma, Sergey Gavrilov.
Replacing Sergey Gavrilov came after Ukraine called for removing him from position, it also called for expelling the Russian representatives from the association’s bodies.
On the other hand, The president Bashar al-Assad received a delegation of heads of Christian Churches in Australia, that includes Bishops of the Armenian Catholic, Armenian Orthodox and Coptic Orthodox Churches, as the Syrian presidency posted on Telegram.
Al-Assad discussed with the members of the delegation the role of the heads of churches towards the Syrian community, and the rest of the Arab communities residing in Australia at various levels.
