Qatar Red Crescent delivers an initial batch of medicines to treat cancer patients in north-west Syria
Qatar Red Crescent provided a batch of medicines to “SAMS” Medical Organization to treat cancer patients in north-west Syria.
Idleb Health Directorate said that it delivered generic, immunological, and chemical medicines to “SAMS” organization in addition to special equipment for diagnosing the disease.
The Directorate pointed out that the quantity included 12,000 doses of intravenous medicines and 32,000 doses of oral medicines, stressing that “all of them are expensive generic medicines that families cannot afford.”
Al-Ameen Organization for Humanitarian Support introduced last September the first radiotherapy device to treat both malignant and benign tumors to north-west Syria.
The radiotherapy device, which was brought in through the Al-Hammam crossing in the Jindires area, was placed in the National Military Hospital of Afrin, and it was said at the time that it would enter service after three months and would be available to cancer patients from all over north-west Syria.
The number of cancer patients in north-west Syria is more than 3,600, including 608 patients who urgently need to be admitted to Turkey to receive treatment, which is not available in the region, including about 100 children and 200 women.
