Lebanon: The United Nations is not fulfilling its duty towards the Syrian refugees
Lebanese Health Minister Firas Abiad announced in a press statement that there is a clear problem regarding the Syrian refugees file coinciding with his ministry’s preparations to confront any expanded Israeli war on Lebanon.
Al- Abiad said: ” The United Nations is not fulfilling its duty towards the Syrian refugees amid this severe crisis.”
Al- Abiad added that “the previous statement led to raising many questions about how to deal with them if they were injured due to targeting, pointing out that the international community bears a big responsibility, but it neglects its duties towards the refugees.”
Al- Abiad pointed out that “the presence of large numbers of Syrian refugees in the South and Bekaa, where Israeli strikes are focused, prompted Lebanon to raise this file with the United Nations to fulfill its duty.”
Al- Abiad previously denounced the silence of relief agencies and the international community, who were always talking about the rights of Syrian refugees and the need to protect them and ensure their safety in Lebanon.
It is noteworthy that Syrian refugees in Lebanon are living in tragic conditions that are worsening day after day, under the pressure of the beating of war drums, as their plight increases due to displacement and asylum, in light of strict legal restrictions that increase the difficulty of their daily lives, while fears of forced deportation are looming.
