The Syrian Minister of Information in the caretaker government, Muhammad al-Omar, said: “The press bodies formed after the fall of the Assad regime in Syria will be subject to evaluation.”

Al-Omar added in a press conference that “these press bodies that are being formed during this transitional period in the region will undergo to review and compliance by the Directorate of Press Affairs in the Information Ministry before granting them the necessary licenses.”

Omar pointed out that “all concerned parties are requested to coordinate in advance with the Ministry to ensure compliance with legal and administrative procedures.”

Omar made it clear that “all positions and statements issued by visitors and media participants inside Syria express their personal opinions and do not necessarily represent the position of the Syrian government.”

Omar stressed that “the official positions of the Syrian government are issued exclusively by the official authorities and the approved identifiers affiliated with them.”
