Erdogan: Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are Turkey’s priorities

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country’s readiness to repel to any threat threatening the unity of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Erdogan’s statement came after a cabinet meeting headed by him on Monday at the presidential complex in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Erdogan said: “We do not accept the disintegration of Syria and the destroying of its unity. If we see a menace in this regard, we will hastily take the necessary steps.”

Erdogan confirmed his country’s readiness to take the necessary measures to confront any threat faces Syria, pointing out that Syria’s stability and safety are Turkey’s priorities.

Concerning the situation in Syria, The Turkish president signaled that Turkey continues its efforts to support the Palestinian people and seek to achieve peace.

Erdogan said: “Just as faith and patience triumphed in Syria after 61 years of Baath oppression and 13 years of massacres, the sun of justice will defeat the darkness of oppression in Palestine as well.”

Erdogan concluded his speech by affirming his country’s firm position on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state: “The independent State of Palestine will inevitably be established on the basis of the 1967 borders, with geographically integrated East Jerusalem as its capital.”
