British Foreign Office: Britain is experiencing the worst situation since the spread of the Corona virus
British Health Minister Matt Hancock said yesterday, Monday, that the country is experiencing the worst situation since the start of the Corona pandemic, and that more than 32,000 people have been hospitalized due to illness in the United Kingdom.
The British minister said that 32,294 people were hospitalized, adding, “We are in the worst phase of the pandemic.” Last month, Britain revealed the fastest spreading mutated strain of the virus.
Last week, the authorities announced the implementation of the third comprehensive lockdown of its kind since the virus spread in the country. Britain has recorded 3,081,368 cases of the emerging virus, according to the latest statistics of Johns Hopkins University.
There was no information about the potential for transmission of the newly discovered virus, whether it could cause severe symptoms, or if it was resistant to vaccines.
The British health authorities also announced, recently, that they had detected a new strain of Corona virus, which was infected by two people, who had been mixed with arrivals from South Africa.
The South African Ministry of Health previously announced the detection of a new genetic mutation for the virus, which may be the reason for the increase in the number of cases in the country recently.
