A 4.1-magnitude earthquake strikes the state of “Azeg”, eastern Turkey
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale jolts the Azeg region in eastern Turkey.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department (AFAD) said in a statement today, Sunday, that the earthquake occurred in the district of Sivrija in the state at a depth of 17 km below the surface of the earth, at 12.24 local time.
No information was received yet as to whether there were material or human losses due to the earthquake.
Turkey, especially the east of the country, has witnessed in recent years a series of devastating earthquakes, the last of which hit the state of Izmir, with a magnitude of 6.6, killing 116 people and 896 injured.
