The work of the first conference of the Syrian Engineers Syndicate concluded yesterday evening, Sunday, which was held under the slogan “Hand in hand towards a better tomorrow” in Idlib.
Engineer Ghayath Khader, a member of the Syrian Engineers Syndicate, said about the conference results and recommendations to Fresh Online: “The conference’s work resulted in the election of members of the Central Council and members of the Syndicate’s Central Committee, and the formation of a committee to prepare a draft law on practicing the profession of engineering.”
Al-Khader continued: “The conference also recommended the formation of workshops to familiarize fellow engineers with how to deal in the next phase with areas that need reconstruction and organization in the areas of infrastructure, residential buildings and investment projects, and to communicate with the General Directorate of Local Councils to find out all the problems that local councils suffer from and to suggest
Appropriate scientific solutions to solve it according to the available capabilities.
Al-Khader added, “The union seeks to control the work of the engineering profession within its scope of work in accordance with the law regulating the practice of the profession, which will be issued later. It also seeks to qualify and raise the efficiency of new engineers who have recently joined the union.”
And he added, “The union also seeks to support the government with all the engineering competencies needed to study service and investment engineering projects, supervise their implementation, and provide appropriate scientific studies and solutions for all social problems facing society.”
He explained: “The first general conference of the Engineers Syndicate was called under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Administration and Services, to form the Central Syndicate after the formation of the Idlib branch, which included 700 engineers, and the Aleppo branch, which included 200 engineers, and we hope in the future to form branches for all governorates and include them in the union.
The Engineers Syndicate was established in 1950 after the issuance of Decree No. 19 of 1950 to regulate the engineering profession, and due to the circumstances of the war, most of the engineers’ contact with the Syndicate was cut off.
Creation of the Syndicate of Engineers, as the vast majority did not belong to one of the aforementioned groups, and accordingly, it was necessary to work on re-establishing the Syndicate of Syrian Engineers, to include all engineers in the liberated areas, according to Al-Khader.
