Anthony Blinken: Washington is ready to pay the $ 200 million dues to the World Health Organization
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the United States is ready to pay the dues to the World Health Organization, from which it withdrew by a decision of former US President Donald Trump, which is estimated at 200 million dollars by the end of this month.
Blinken stressed during a ministerial meeting of the UN Security Council on the Corona virus, that “this constitutes an essential step forward in fulfilling our financial obligations as members of the World Health Organization, and reflects our renewed commitment to ensure that the organization gets the support it needs to lead the global response to the pandemic.”
He added, “The United States will act as a partner to confront global challenges. This pandemic constitutes one of these challenges and provides us with an opportunity not only to overcome the current crisis, but to become more prepared and able to resist in the future.”
Blinken added that the United States “will also provide substantial financial support” to the international Kovacs mechanism to distribute vaccines to the poorest countries
“All countries should provide all the data as soon as an epidemic begins,” Blinken noted.
All countries must participate in a transparent and robust process to avoid health emergencies and respond to them so that everyone can learn lessons as quickly as possible and as quickly as possible.
It was former President Donald Trump, who faced criticism about his management of the Covid-19 pandemic, and announced his country’s withdrawal from the World Health Organization, considering it biased towards China and did not do enough to curb the epidemic.
The new US President Joe Biden immediately returned from this decision, but his will urged China at the same time to be more transparent with a team affiliated with the World Health Organization, which was investigating the origin of the new Corona virus.
