Biden denounces the violence against Asian Americans

US President Joe Biden condemned the rise in violence against the Asian community in the United States, calling for action to prevent race-related violence.

This came during a speech he gave at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, which witnessed shootings in 3 massage salons, killing 8 people, including 6 women of Asian origin.

Biden urged Americans to fight what he called “the resurgence of xenophobia,” noting that he knew that “Americans of Asian descent have been anxious over the past year, and they wake up every morning feeling that their safety and the safety of their relatives are at stake.”

Biden’s visit to this region was long scheduled to present the consequences of the pandemic and a plan to revive the economy that Congress adopted last week, but a last-minute change occurred after a series of bloody attacks.

Vice President Kamala Harris accompanied Biden on his visit, during which he met representatives of Asian Americans.

Biden had previously ordered flags to be flown at half-mast until Monday in honor of the eight victims who were killed Tuesday evening by a 21-year-old white bullets.
