The Danish government is considering returning the children of its citizens belonging to the “Islamic State” organization from Syria
The Copenhagen government in Denmark said today, Thursday, that it is studying the file of children belonging to the “Islamic State” organization of its citizens in Syria, and is trying to find solutions to return them to their country.
The Danish government added that it is studying the possibility of returning Danish militant children detained in camps in northeastern Syria, announcing the formation of a committee to study the conditions for the possible return of children as soon as possible.
Informed media sources expect that the committee will present a report containing the results of its investigation on May 15th, while the government has not hidden its concerns about the dangers of “radicalization” of children if they remain in the camps, according to what was stated in a statement by the Danish Foreign Ministry.
The minority government, led by the Social Democratic Party, refuses to return the children, but the majority of parliamentarians insist on it to change its position due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the camps and the dangers of extremism, in the northeastern region of Syria.
