German newspaper: The Assad regime steals most of the humanitarian aid provided to Syrians
The German newspaper “Tages Spiegel” revealed in a report, that the Assad regime is stealing most of the humanitarian aid provided to the Syrian people, and is trying to seize Idlib’s share of it.
The report stated that the Assad regime and Russia are doing their best to prevent humanitarian aid from reaching areas beyond their control, through Russian efforts aimed at closing the crossings.
The newspaper pointed out the efforts made by Russia in this regard, especially with regard to closing two crossings, by using the “veto”, and it seeks to close the only remaining port in Idlib, through which aid enters millions of displaced people.
Tages Spiegel added that most of the aid provided by Washington and the European Union countries goes to the areas controlled by the Assad regime, and it is estimated at 90% of the total aid to the Syrian people.
The newspaper pointed out that many humanitarian organizations operating in the Assad regime-controlled areas have stopped their work, such as “Afad Tal and Coaster” and “Medico International”, as a result of the pressure exerted by the Assad regime on them, with the aim of putting names of its forces, militias supporting them and their supporters instead of civilians.
