Conducting a joint Russian-Turkish patrol in the countryside of Hasaka for a distance of 100 km
The Russian Defense Ministry announced, in a statement, that its forces and their Turkish counterparts, on Friday, carried out a joint patrol for a record distance in northeastern Syria, as it extended more than 100 kilometers in the area of the city of Qamishli in the Hasaka governorate.
The commander of the Russian forces convoy, Brigadier General Andrei Titov, said: “A new joint Russian-Turkish patrol was implemented from the Shirk crossing. The peculiarity of this patrol is the long distance of the route, as it included a large number of towns.”
Sixty soldiers from the forces of both countries and more than 10 pieces of military equipment, accompanied by Russian helicopters, participated in the patrol.
The joint convoy covered a distance of more than 100 km in the first operation of its kind by the forces of the two countries in Syria, and included 10 towns free of the Syrian Democratic Forces, according to the Russian-Turkish agreements previously reached to settle tension in the region.
