The Council of the Russian Federation receives an invitation to observe the play of the “presidential” elections in Syria
The Council of the Russian Federation, which is the upper house of parliament, announced that it had received an official invitation from Damascus to observe the play of the “presidential” elections that would take place in Syria, pointing out that he would form a delegation to carry out this task.
The head of the International Committee of the Council of the Russian Federation, Grigory Karasin, said that a group of observers would be formed at a later time, and the Russian Foreign Ministry had expressed its willingness to send observers to the upcoming “presidential” elections in Syria scheduled for next May 26.
The Assad regime announced, through its “People’s Assembly” last Wednesday evening, that the deadline granted to accept applications for candidacy for the stage of elections had ended with 51 applications, while an official in the Council considered that the increase in candidacy applications is evidence of “democracy” and it is a healthy and positive condition, as he put it.
A number of Western members of the UN Security Council rejected the “presidential” elections in Syria, to be launched this month, in which Bashar Al-Assad would participate, and America, France and Britain were on top of these countries, who criticized the holding of these elections.
