Saudi Foreign Ministry: Humanitarian affairs in Syria must not be politicized
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, stressed the importance of international consensus to stop the human suffering of the Syrian people.
Prince Faisal called for a solution to the border crossings crisis, to ensure the flow of international aid to those who deserve it in Syria, and not to politicize the humanitarian issue in Syria, and not to neglect the humanitarian needs of the Syrian people.
Prince Faisal indicated that a political solution is the only solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with International Resolution No. 2254 and the relevant international resolutions.
He added that “the absence of an effective international will to solve the Syrian crisis contributed to the opportunity for some parties to implement expansionist, sectarian and demographic projects aimed at changing Syria’s identity, and foreshadowing the prolongation of the Syrian crisis and its regional and international effects.”
He stressed the importance of uniting efforts to resume the negotiating process, supporting the efforts of the United Nations and the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in this regard, and providing all aspects of support required for the success of his mission. The statement was made by the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal, during his participation, yesterday, Monday, in the ministerial meeting on Syria in the Italian capital, Rome.
