Yasin Aktay: Syrians have become part of the Turkish society and it is practically impossible to send them back to their country
Yasin Aktay, adviser to the President of the Justice and Development Party in Turkey, confirmed in an interview with Euronews that it is “practically impossible to send Syrians to their country.”
Aktay added, “There is no such thing as the expulsion of people who have sought refuge in your country and obtained immigrant and refugee status under certain conditions.”
The Turkish advisor stated that the leader of the opposition Republican People’s Party, Kılıçdaroğlu, who announced in a previous statement his intention to deport Syrian refugees to their country if he wins the presidential elections to be held in 2023, “knows that he cannot do this procedure, and if he does not know, his advisors must To tell him that.”
He added that the Syrians obtained asylum in Turkey within a certain legal status, and under international migration law, “You cannot send these people to their country if they do not commit a crime without justification.”
Aktay pointed out that the Syrians in Turkey are not tourists, but have fled their country, because of the war, lack of security and safety, and because there has become a threat to their lives, adding that they have become part of Turkish society for their contribution to different work professions.
Turkish Chancellor Yassin Aktay’s statements came in response to statements from the Turkish opposition parties calling for the deportation of the Syrians. The leader of the Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the largest Turkish opposition party, had pledged to return the Syrian refugees in Turkey to their country within the framework of a plan he said was ready, It allows them to return within two years only after the reconciliation with the Assad regime.
