Fuat Oktay: We will work to prevent an environmental disaster after the oil spill on the Syrian coast

Yesterday, Monday, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay announced that his country is closely following developments related to the oil spill on the Syrian coast.

Oktay stressed that Turkey will take the necessary measures before an environmental disaster occurs as a result of the oil spill off the coast of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, adding that the Turkish government is coordinating with the Cypriot side at the level of ministries and institutions concerned with the spill incident.

He pointed out that the air and naval cadres of the Turkish Coast Guard command are planning to carry out air and sea tours to monitor the pollution at sea, noting that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is closely following the developments of the leak.

For his part, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Arsene Tatar, said in a press statement that his country is closely following developments related to the oil spill towards the Karpaz coast, adding that he discussed this matter with Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay and the concerned authorities in his country.
