SNHR: 207 Cases of Arbitrary Arrests in Syria Last August
Today, Wednesday, the Syrian Network for Human Rights issued a report confirming that at least 207 cases of arbitrary arrests were documented in August, including 7 children and 14 women, at the hands of the warring parties in Syria.
The report stated that the Assad regime forces did not stop pursuing and targeting civilians in their areas of control, against the background of their political opposition and their views guaranteed by the Syrian constitution and international law.
He said: “One of the backgrounds of the arrest/detention he recorded in August is the continuation of the Assad regime forces to pursue and arrest people who have settled their security situation in the areas with which they had previously signed settlement agreements.”
The report added that most of the arrests were concentrated in the governorates of Damascus countryside and Daraa, and random arrests were recorded against citizens in the governorate of Damascus countryside, and most of them took place within the frameworks of raids and mass arrest campaigns, some of which targeted civilians from one family and did not exclude women, because of their opposition to the Assad regime.

Conditions of detention are very poor in terms of torture practices, almost lack of health and medical care, and severe overcrowding in detention centers, and they were detained without explanation.
In August, the report recorded at least 207 arrests, including 7 children and 14 women, at the hands of the controlling forces in Syria, 174 of whom were forcibly disappeared. The Assad regime arrested 71, including 3 women, while the Syrian Democratic Forces detained 38, including 6 children and 1Lady.
The report stated that the revolutionary factions detained 86 civilians, including 10 women and 1 child, while Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham detained 12 civilians.
The Assad regime continued to detain hundreds of thousands of detainees without an arrest warrant for many years, and without charges, and prohibited them to hire a lawyer and family visits, and nearly 65% of the total detainees were forcibly disappeared.
The report called on the UN Security Council to follow up on the implementation of resolutions No. 2042 of April 14, 2012, 2043 of April 21, 2012, and 2139 of February 22, 2014, to put an end to enforced disappearance.
The Syrian Network concluded its report by saying: “It is necessary for the United Nations and the guarantor parties of the Astana talks to form a special, impartial committee to monitor cases of enforced disappearance, and to advance in the process of revealing the fate of 102,000 disappeared in Syria, 85% of whom are with the Assad regime, and to immediately start putting pressure on all parties to
