COVID-19 deaths worldwide have reached 5 million
The American Johns Hopkins University confirmed that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has surpassed 234 million, with more than 4.7 million deaths.
In the latest statistics published by the university on its website this morning, the university said that the U.S. COVID-19 death toll has hit 700,000.
The United States of America tops the list of countries most affected by the outbreak, with more than 43.6 million cases.
India ranks second in terms of the number of infections, which amounted to 33,791,061 cases, and the total deaths there reached 448,573 cases.
Meanwhile, global statistics bodies revealed that an average of eight thousand deaths were recorded per day worldwide during the past week, which represents five deaths every minute.
