5 deaths and 534 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in northwestern Syria
Yesterday, northwestern Syria recorded more than 500 new infections with the emerging coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 81,997 since the virus began spreading.
According to the report issued by the Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory of the Early Warning Network, 534 coronavirus cases were recorded yesterday, after 993 new analyses were conducted, while the number of recovery cases reached 434, 364 of them in Idlib governorate, and 70 in the “Olive Branch” and “Euphrates shields” areas, bringing the number to 47,712 recovery cases.
The infections were distributed among the cities and towns of Idlib governorate, so that the governorate recorded 244 new infections, 110 of the cases in the city of Idlib and its suburbs and 54 in the Harem region, while the cities and towns of northern and eastern Aleppo countryside recorded 290 infections, 138 of the cases in Afrin region and 98 infections in Azaz city.
While the past hours recorded, 5 coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the number of deaths to 1,578 since the virus began spreading in northwest Syria, according to the epidemiological surveillance laboratory.
The Syrian Defense Organization warned of the deteriorating health conditions in northwestern Syria, as a result of the continued rapid spread of the pandemic, and called on humanitarian organizations to work to provide the region’s needs of oxygen and to unite all efforts to address the deteriorating health situation in the liberated areas.
It is noteworthy that the number of analyses that have been conducted until the seventeenth of this month has reached 288,335 since the pandemic outbreak in the middle of last year.
